Fresno Mayor Ashley Swearingin this week drew attention to organ donation on her Facebook page, directing readers to the California Donor registry website.
More than 21,000 Californians are on the waiting list for organs according to California Transplant Donor Network. One third of them will die before receiving a transplant.
Losing a loved one is tragic, but giving life or improving the quality of life for another through organ donation is a blessed act of generosity and love.
