TEXANS - ACTION REQUIRED TODAY TO SUPPORT HB2027 - REVISED UAGA

The revised Uniform Anatomical Gift Act HB2027 is placed on the general state calendar for today, April 22. Please contact your Texas Representative and encourage them to support the bill. There are over 8,000 Texans on the organ transplant wait list. The Texas Anatomical Gift Act has been amended extensively since its original enactment, however many sections of the Act are outdated and often times conflict with federal law, best practices and the realities of modern family relationships.

1. Register with your State's organ & tissue donor registry. To learn how: www.organdonor.gov
2. Speak with your family, friends and colleagues about your decision to be a donor.
3. Encourage your workplace ,church, schools, neighborhood organizations, and city to adopt donation as a mission.
4. Encourage your elected officials to support donation legislation.
5. Speak at your local High School, College or University. Ask them to participate in the National Donation Campus Challenge. www.organdonor/campus.gov
6. Participate in events sponsored by your local organ procurement organization.
