DONATE LIFE TRI FOR LIFE - TRIATHLON TEAM - HY-VEE TRIATHLON DES MOINE, IOWA

This story about Tri for Life - Triathlon Team was brought to our attention by our friend and lung transplant recipient Steve Ferkau. Team Tri for Life commitment to triathlons is extremely personal. Every triathlon they do is a testimony to the physical drive and infectious spirit of a fourth brother Chase who was an avid cyclist, one of the three core disciplines of the triathlon. Chase was taken at the age of 20 on May 10, 2003, the victim of a single-care crash near Millington, Michigan. Chase didn't simply live his life seeking to push himself further along the spectrum of athletic achievement, he wanted to give life to others, specifically, by designating his wishes to be a donor. Chase's moment came sooner than anyone could have imagined. As a result seven people received a life-saving organ. Today the brothers are dedicating their lives to running triathlons in Chase's memory and raising awareness for organ donation.
The Brother's challenge is to participate in every triathlon in all 50 States and promoting organ donation while running each race; "a mix of personal goals and a nationwide message of organ donation awareness."

Thank you guys, and Chase for your generous gift at a time of loss and sadness. I am a liver transplant recipient, 14 years ago. What you are doing is fantastic - I can't imagine doing a triathlon. I'm planning to climb Mt Kilimanjaro in Feb, as 2010 will be 15 years for me and my liver. I'll be raising funds/donor awareness as well. I just started blogging: http://summitday.wordpress.com

God bless you!
