WORLD DAY - EUROPEAN DAY OF ORGAN DONATION, BERLIN, GERMANY

To raise awareness for the worldwide need for donor organs, international experts, transplant recipients, donor families, artists, bands, celebrities and politicians gathered in the German capital in celebration of the World Day and European Day of Organ Donation. This public event formally opened the International Organ Donation Congress where more than 700 delegates from over 60 countries were represented.

The World Day and European Day of Organ Donation centerpiece was the open air concert at Brandenburg Gate with performers John Lee's Barclay James Harvest, Karat, Jeannette & Band, Stanfour and Markus & die NDW Revue. The concert was interspersed with short public service announcements and video statements by transplant experts and heart warming stories by transplant recipients and donor families. Huge walk-in organs along with information tables on organ donation were also present at the festival.

Please take the time to learn more about organ, eye & tissue donation. One organ donor can save the lives of up to 8 individuals while one tissue donor can save or enhance the lives of up to 50 people.
