BAKERSFIELD,Calif. -- Jeffrey John's family has had to live without their brother and son since his death in March.
"A big loneliness you feel in your heart," said John's mother, Lori Malkin, as she talked about her son's fatal car crash.
Malkin decided to offer John's organs for donation. In all, more than 55 lives were helped, including four people who received his organs.
"I feel very blessed, to loose a son but at the same time give life to someone else," Malkin said.
On Monday, family and friends gathered to finish a "flowergraph" of John's image that will appear on the Donate Life Float in the Rose Parade in Pasadena on New Year's Day.
