Lorissa Green died in a car crash last January at the intersection of Highway 195 and Cheney-Spokane Road and now her mom is making the rounds talking to teens about her daughter and how they can help save lives.

Lorissa’s mom Debbie Hammel is talking to teens about organ donation, hoping her family's loss will encourage others to become a donor and help save lives.

Back in January of 2009 Lorissa Green died after her car was broadsided by a pickup truck at Cheney-Spokane Road and Highway 195. Since losing her daughter Hammel has been visiting schools and talking to students about organ donation and how they have the opportunity to save lives.

Knowing that her daughter’s death has helped other people is what motivates Hammel to encourage teens to talk with their families about organ donation.

“Organ donation is not something that I would stand and preach about but I think it's really important that they have the opportunity to make that choice and Lorissa did. Every day I've met these people that appreciate her as much as I do,” Hammel said.

Because her daughter chose to be an organ donor she saved and enhanced the lives of 18 other people.
