TUNISIAONLINENEWS- The Tunisian Organ Donation Awareness Association held in collaboration with the National centre for the promotion of organ transplantation on Saturday, in Tunis, its second organ donation awareness Day. Schoolchildren, students as well as medical and paramedical staff took part in the event.

Dubbed “Spring Day”, the event aims at disseminating the culture of organ donation and raise awareness on the need to join in this approach by convincing patients and their families on the humanitarian and religious dimensions of organ donation.

Mr. Mohammed Khalil, the director of the National Center for the Advancement of Organ Transplantation, said that the refusal of families to allow the removal of organs is a main obstacle to the promotion of this sector.

He also stressed the necessity to boost efforts to mobilize human and material resources, as well as all components of civil society to change attitudes and dispel reservations against organ donation.
