Donate Life Month By the Governor of the State of Alabama
A Proclamation
March 31, 2010
WHEREAS, individuals who register as organ donors can give a new lease on life to someone awaiting a transplant; and

WHEREAS, registering to be an organ donor does not affect the level of medical care a person will receive in the hospital, as the level of care is based on what is best to preserve the person’s life; and

WHEREAS, The Alabama Organ Center is the federally designated organ procurement organization for the state of Alabama; and

WHEREAS, The Alabama Organ Center is attempting to close the disparity between the need for and the availability of transplantable organs and tissues; and

WHEREAS, as part of this effort to address the shortage of organ donors, the Alabama Organ Center is implementing programs to increase the number of individuals who make the decision to become a donor:

NOW, THEREFORE, I, Bob Riley, Governor of Alabama, do hereby proclaim April 2010, as
Donate Life Month
in the State of Alabama.

Given Under My Hand and the Great Seal of the Office of the Governor at the State Capitol in the City of Montgomery on the 31st day of March 2010.
