CENTRAL BAPTIST HOSPITAL TO DISPLAY DONOR QUILT, OFFER DONOR REGISTRY SIGN-UP

Posted: Apr 21, 2010 10:29 AM

The Donor Family Memorial Quilt, memorializing Kentucky individuals who offered the gift of life to others through organ and tissue donation and transplantation, will be on display Thursday, April 29 at Central Baptist Hospital. The quilt will be on display from 8:30 a.m.-11:30 a.m. in the front lobby of the hospital’s Building E, located at 1740 Nicholasville Road. A representative of Kentucky Organ Donor Affiliates (KODA) will be available at the display to answer questions about organ donation and to offer a chance to register on the Kentucky Organ Donor Registry. This registry enables anyone to place their name on the registry listing, stating their wishes to be an organ donor. It is now necessary to sign the Kentucky Organ Donor Registry to state your wishes rather than sign your driver’s license. Anyone wishing to sign the registry should bring his or her driver’s license as a form of identification. The sign-up process will take less than two minutes. A nonprofit organization incorporated in 1987, KODA is the federally designated organ procurement

organization that serves most of the state of Kentucky. KODA’s goal is to ensure that Kentuckians are aware of the options of organ and tissue donation, and that they have the information necessary to make individual, informed choices regarding donation.
