NATIONAL DONATE LIFE MONTH-LYNCHBURG, VA-POINT OF HONOR 5K AND MINI-MILE THIS WEEKEND FOR ORGAN DONATION AWARENESS

Lynchburg, VA - The forecast is looking great for the third annual Point of Honor 5-K this Saturday.

Organizer Kevin Shroyer says they've had a record number of runners signed up for the event.

While the race is named after the historic home of Doctor Geoge Cabell, the race is also intended to raise awareness for organ donation.

Shroyer lost his teenage daughter Korinne eight years ago. Her organs were donated to several people, giving them the gift of life.
Several living donors and recipients will be at Saturday's race.

"To show to everybody that they're alive, they're here and they're able to do the same things that people are able to do based on the generosity of a lot of cases of people that they don't know anything about," Kevin Shroyer, Organizer of Point of Honor 5k

The race also includes a youth mini-mile.
