Being a donor has the potential to affect the lives of 50 people if anything were to ever happen. April is National Donate Life Month.

Monday at the St. Joe Regional Medical Center the donor council was helping those that want to sign up to be donors.

Thousands of people wait every day for donations to come.

Across the nation there are more than 105,000 people waiting for organ or tissue transplant. In Indiana that number is more than 1,000.

“One common myth that people hesitate. They think that if they sign up to be a donor they may not get the medical treatment that we would provide, and that is simply not true. We will always try to save a life,” Chairperson Linda DeHahm said.
