NATIONAL DONATE LIFE MONTH-MOTHER MEETS PERSON WHO RECEIVED DAUGHTERS ORGAN

video

Early last month, a Montgomery County teenager lost her life after an ATV crah.

17-year-old Jessica Fulkerson died at UK hospital back on March 10.

Tonight, Jessica's mother met one person whose life was saved because of her daughter's decision.

It turns out she was an organ donor and that decision led to a new life for Jessica's pancreas, liver and both kidneys.

"it's so hard to think about that. But, when your loved one dies and they go to God, that's a shell they're leaving behind. Honestly, it is. And to have those parts that you can give to someone else than can change their life and give them more time to live and see their children and grandchildren, it's beautiful. It's a wonderful gift," says Jessica's mom, Gale Cecil.

You can register to become an organ donor when you receive or renew your driver's license. Anyone can become a donor, but those younger than 18 must have consent of a parent or legal guardian.
