NATIONAL DONATE LIFE MONTH - THE POWER OF ONE HERO - ALEX CAPPERAULD

One person has the power to restore lives through organ, eye, and tissue donation. One donor can save or enhance over 50 lives, one family can make the most courageous decision, one hospital can make it possible for hundreds to have a second chance at life, and one story can inspire dozens to take action. The Power of One touches so many. It takes only ONE to inspire, save lives, create hope, offer comfort, and be a hero.

April is Donate Life Month and we are honoring the heroes of donation – organ, eye, and tissue donors. Every Tuesday and Thursday visit here to read inspiring stories of those from our community who gave the gift of life – they truly are heroes and without them none of what we do would be possible.

Nineteen-year-old Alex Capperauld passed away on November 22, 2008. He gave the gift of life to five people through organ donation and has restored the lives of many more through tissue donation.

Alex’s life was cut short, but in his passing he became a hero to many. The remarkable impact of Alex’s donation transcends far beyond the lives of the recipients alone. Those life saving gifts benefited not only five grateful recipients but many family and friends who are enjoying the continued life of their loved ones. Alex’s family has found great comfort in knowing people are living today because of him.

Join us April 21, 2010 at the Annual Giving Luncheon as we share Alex’s story.
