NATIONAL DONATE LIFE MONTH-PTTSBURGH, PA- PITTSBURGH PARTNER WITH UPMC AND CORE TO RAISE AWARENESS FOR 'NATIONAL DONATE LIFE MONTH'

Source: NHL Network

The Pittsburgh Penguins, UPMC and the Center for Organ Recovery & Education (CORE) are joining forces to raise awareness for “National Donate Life Month” this April.

All fans attending the Tuesday, April 6 game against the Washington Capitals will receive a commemorative poster celebrating four decades of Pittsburgh Penguins hockey at Mellon Arena. The poster, presented by UPMC and CORE, will also feature a detachable donor card that fans can complete and submit to register to become an organ and tissue donor.

Additionally, UPMC and CORE will host information stations on Mellon Arena’s east concourse during the game to answer questions fans may have about the program.

Over 7,700 Pennsylvanians are currently awaiting organ and tissue transplants.

UPMC Transplantation Services are internationally renowned for having far-reaching influence on the entire field of organ and tissue transplantation, with research being a hallmark of its approach to transplantation for more than 45 years.

CORE is a regional not-for-profit agency that is the primary call center and intermediary for the organ recovery and allocation process that serves 155 hospitals, 5 transplant centers and more than six million people its designated service area.
