NATIONAL DONATE LIFE MONTH-WINSTON-SALEM, NC - TWO LOCAL HOSPITALS ORGANIZE ORGAN DONATION WALK

Winston Salem -- Nearly 3,000 people in our state are in need of transplants. More than 100-thousand americans are currently waiting for donors to save their lives across the US.

That's why two local hospitals and the carolina donor services organized an organ donation walk.

Participants hit the pavement today at Forsyth Medical Center and walked to Wake Forest University Baptist Medical Center.

The organizations honored Winston-Salem police officer, Sgt. Mickey Hutchens who died in the line of duty.

His wife Beth, says their family supports her husband who was a donor.

April is national donate life month.
