kLaVoy 5K Run
Mark your calendars for the third annual kLaVoy 5K Run in Saratoga Spa State Park this weekend. This event is an annual fundraiser that supports Donate Life in memory of Kristen LaVoy.
After a long fight with kidney disease Kristen LaVoy died several years ago. She was a Ballston Spa resident and kidney transplant recipient. Kristen suffered from an autoimmune disease and her entire life changed after receiving her transplant. She was able to enjoy life again and not be restricted by her illness.
Tonya Pellegrini Lawrence, a good friend of Kristen, met Kristen while they were students in Ballston Spa High School. Tonya decided to organize the race as a tribute to her friend and to raise awareness of the need for organ donation.
Registration is $25 the day of the race. The race starts at the warming hut in Saratoga Park on May 8th at 8 a.m. All proceeds will go to Donate Life through the Center for Donation and Transplant.
A great cause and a great place for a run on an early May morning. Lace up those sneaks and set your alarms for Saturday morning!
