Guests Catch a Glimpse of Sight Restoration at Lions Eye Bank of New Jersey Open House

The Lions Eye Bank of New Jersey (www.lionseyebanknj.org) recently had a chance to show off its new facility, just days after moving in. More than 60 people attended the Open House event that gave them their first glimpse of the Eye Bank’s new 4,000 square-foot residence, located at 77 Brant Ave., Clark.

"The Open House was an opportunity for us to introduce and re-introduce ourselves to the community-at-large," explains Margaret Chaplin, the Eye Bank’s Executive Director. "Many people are surprised to learn that we are a charity, and that we coordinate the recovery, evaluation and distribution of eye tissue for transplantation. They are also surprised to learn of all the other ways we serve the community, including research funding and public education." The Open House featured different interactive stations and guests had an opportunity to tour the new laboratory, watch educational videos, view the Eye Bank’s own Donor Tribute Web site (www.donortribute.org), and sign up on the Donate Life NJ Donor Registry.

Chaplin explains that the Eye Bank’s sight-restoring mission depends on the charitable support of individuals and of group’s such as Lions Clubs. "We are pleased to be in our new location, with a state-of-the-art laboratory that allows us to continue our mission to restore sight," she says. "We look forward to being a member of the Clark community."
