Donate Life Ambassador, Wendy Rodgers is featured on Oprah.com sharing her experience with Lupus which required Wendy to under go a life saving kidney transplant. Wendy shares her inspiring story about her disease, her transplant and her tireless involvement with Donate Life.
Ten years ago, at age 27, Wendy experienced acute changes in her health such as joint pain, fatigue, hair loss and excessively high blood pressure. After awakening one day unable to move, both she and her doctor were baffled by the fact that none of the treatments for her symptoms were successful. Frustrated and in pain, she personally researched her symptoms. When she found an article about lupus, she was prompted to ask her doctor to be tested. "Even after diagnosis, I knew very little about lupus and did not realize it could be fatal. And my physician did not explain the possible severity of the disease," she says.
