UCSF Transplant Team Challenges Stanford to a “Throw-down”

This month the Division of Transplant Surgery at UCSF Medical Center will compete with Stanford Hospital’s transplant team in an organ donor registry competition, called the “Stanford Throw-down.”

Throughout August, in partnership with the California Transplant Donor Network (CTDN), UCSF and Stanford will compete to see which institution inspires the most people to register as organ, eye and tissue donors.

In a similar competition last April, Stanford succeeded at registering more donors than UCSF, prompting the UCSF team to challenge Stanford to this month’s rematch.

All UCSF employees, family members and friends are invited to sign up to be donors.
Donor registration can be completed through a simple online form, available on the Donate Life California website.

In addition, volunteers from CTDN will set up tables on the UCSF Parnassus campus every Tuesday in August from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. in front of the Courtyard Cafe or the Millberry Union food court to answer questions about the donor registration process.

There are currently more than 21,000 Californians waiting for an organ transplant.
