Saving Lives With Organ Donation
If you could save one life with no consequence to yourself would you do it? What if you could save eight lives? There are people all over the world waiting and hoping to get one of these very important organs after you have passed away.
"This is a decision someone can make by saying yes to donation and saving 8 potential lives."
For those with diseases that affect their vital organs it is truly a life and death matter that reaches beyond just them.
"It affects everybody, my mom, my sister, my dad. And not just that extended family worrying, having to take me to doctor appointments things like that. So it's difficult on everybody."
Crystal has been waiting for months now to hopefully receive a kidney from someone.
"I've been on the list for five months and dialysis eight months, seems like a lot longer though, it's hard."
She warns that even if you sign yourself up for donation you should be sure to express your feelings on donation to your family.
"You really need to speak with your family because in the end they have the final decision. Even if you register when it comes down to it, if they say no they are going to respect the families wishes."
Save 8 is a group here in Texas that is looking for you to sign up to hopefully do just that, Save 8 lives.
"It's a year long campaign reaching out to the Hispanic community and we want everyone to consider becoming an organ donor and saving 8 lives."
