The Berks Coalition on Organ and Tissue Donation held its seventh annual Walk to Remember on Sunday afternoon at the Reading Public Museum.
More than 150 people participated, including donor families and donor recipients, according to Dwendy Johnson of the Gift of Life Organ Donor Program in Philadelphia, co-sponsor.
A ceremony in Trudy's Garden honored donor families.
In addition, 12 Thread of Love Donor Memorial Quilts were displayed.
Individual squares were created by organ donors' loved ones.
"It seemed that it was very comforting," Johnson said. "It wasn't your typical walk. We were celebrating life."
Amanda Schaeffer of Fleetwood, then a high school student, organized the first walk in 2004 in memory of her mother, Tammy, who died in 1998 and was an organ donor.
The walk is intended to raise awareness about organ and tissue donation.
"It's something we're all going to be touched by at one time or another," Johnson said.
