Serbia - Increased number of donor cards, transplantations in Serbia
Minister of Health Tomica Milosavljevic said today that in the last three years there has been a significant increase in potential kidney donors and the number of transplants performed in health centres in Serbia, and added that it is very important to maintain this trend in the future.
Milosavljevic, participating in the events marking the European Day of Organ Donation at the Republic Square in Belgrade, said that the number of donor card owners in Serbia has increased to about 47,000.
He said that representatives of Eurotransplant will visit Serbia next month to discuss the signing of an agreement on Serbia’s preliminary membership in that body in 2011.
The Minister of Health said it would allow the surgery for patients who require urgent transplantation.
No more than 12 months after the preliminary membership, Serbia will become a full member so our patients will be included in the single list.
Milosavljevic said that the initial conditions have been met and that two laboratories in Serbia received European certification so they may be part of a network of European laboratories.
Marking the European Day of Organ Donation is an opportunity to show the real, clean and humane side of Serbia, said Milosavljevic.
He announced cooperation with a hospital in Vienna to provide a more intensive programme of heart transplantation.
The event in Belgrade was attended by President of the Medical Council of Serbia Dragan Delic, representative of the World Health Organisation (WHO) in Serbia Melita Vujinovic, representatives of the Ministry of Health, representatives of patients’ organisations and the Association of Medical Students.
The national campaign to support the transplantation programme in Serbia was officially launched a year ago.

Београд, 30. јун 2007. године – Саветник председника Владе Републике Србије Александар Симић изјавио је данас да Србија може да очекује повољан исход састанка председника Русије Владимира Путина и САД Џорџа Буша.
Симић је у изјави за агенцију Бета изразио уверење да мора бити прихваћен реалистички приступ ситуацији у којој нема решења за будући статус Косова и Метохије без сагласности свих страна.

Сигурно је да је питање поштовања територијалног интегритета Србије једно од важних питања преко којег се Русија на озбиљан начин враћа на европску политичку сцену са које је удаљена након распада СССР-а, навео је Симић.
Он је додао да је Русија захваљујући принципијелном ставу Србије добила шансу да постане уважавајући, респектабилни партнер за европска питања.
Мислим да ће САД ићи у правцу реалности и бити убедљив партнер који ће косметске Албанце натерати да седну за преговарачки сто, рекао је саветник председника Владе Србије.
