From our colleagues and friends at Donate Life Illinois
This weekend marks the 15th annual observance of the National Donor Sabbath, a time when faith and religious leaders discuss the importance of organ and tissue donation with their communities. This focus brings attention to the urgent need for organ/tissue donors and the power we all have to donate life. More than 108,000 individuals in the U.S. need our help, including 4,800 of our neighbors in Illinois. Many people may believe that donation goes against their religious beliefs however all major religions support donation. In fact, many faiths recognize donation as a supreme act of charity. If you have questions about how a certain religion views organ/tissue donation then take a look at this guide.
Will you be participating? Gift of Hope has additional information and resourcesto help you and your congregation get involved.
