Brittany Grimm, a 15-year-old freshman at Fairview High School who received a heart transplant in 2007, will ride the Donate Life float in the 2011 Rose Parade.
Donate Life America, an organization that aims to educate people about eye, organ and tissue donation and promotes donor registration, chose Grimm to be one of the float's 28 riders after she wrote a 500-word essay explaining why she deserved the honor.
She found out in September that she'd been selected.
"I got all excited," Brittany said. "I couldn't breathe. I was star-struck."
