TTH/TCH Receives Organ Donation Silver Medal of Honor

The U.S. Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) has recognized The Toledo Hospital/Toledo Children’s Hospital (TTH/TCH) with a Silver Medal of Honor for Organ Donation for its success in increasing the number of available organs for transplantation.

To receive this distinction, a hospital must achieve and sustain national donation goals, such as a 75% or higher donation rate of eligible donors. TTH/TCH is one of only 12 Ohio hospitals to achieve this honor.

“These organizations and individuals have all made a real difference by working to increase the number of organs available for transplantation,” says Mary K. Wakefield, PhD, RN, administrator, HHS Health Resources and Services Administration. “We are proud of their efforts. Together, they are helping to save and improve the lives of individuals across America.”
