Brewer rebuffs media questions about transplants, Arizona
by Kevin Tripp/KTAR
PHOENIX - Arizona is in the national spotlight over cuts to organ transplants.

But there's one question Governor Jan Brewer won't answer.

She says the organ cuts she signed are heartbreaking and she's asking for help from the federal government. Still, Brewer says things are not as bad as they seem.

"I believe that the media has blown that totally, completely out of proportion," she said. "It's an unfortunate thing that people have passed away, that two people have died, but I don't believe it was because of the funding at this particular time."

But when KTAR asked her how many people she is willing to see die, she walked away and a staff member got physical.

"Stop. Stop. Please," said one of her staff members as she was peppered with questions.

Her fellow Republicans are now backtracking on earlier statements that they'd be inclined to re-consider the cuts
