Cincom’s Vickie Jackson has been named a“Theodore E. Smith” award-winner for her inspiring, courageous and dedicated efforts with LifeCenter, “A Donate Life Organization” that encourages and coordinates the donation of organs and tissues for transplantation with local hospitals.
The Theodore E. Smith Award was established to recognize individuals who have made significant contributions in the education and/or promotion of organ and tissue donation to the minority community.
Andi Johnson, Director of Public Affairs for LifeCenter, presented the Theodore E. Smith award to Vickie Jackson with the following attestation:
“Those that know her know of the love and passion she holds for her son Brandon. It is infectious. Sadly, he passed away suddenly just a few short years ago, and he went on to help many others as an organ and tissue donor.
“Vickie has taken that love for her son to bring broader awareness of organ and tissue donation. She took the experience of losing her only child to educate and motivate others to designate themselves as organ and tissue donors, particularly in the minority community. She has done so much to further this cause. She has shared Brandon’s story with countless individuals through media interviews, brought her company on as a consistent workplace partner for donation, connected with other grieving mothers to provide hope and support, attends health fairs and is even one of the faces in our statewide Green Chair donation awareness campaign. I know that while this has been cathartic for her in many ways, it has also been painful at times and still she keeps going. She is an amazing person. This woman never says no. She is always so incredibly positive, passionate and welcoming. Vickie Jackson knows no strangers.”
