"LIFE IS COOL!...PASS IT ON!", a half-hour program co-produced by Indiana Organ Procurement Organization (IOPO) and WFWA PBS39, will be available to upload for future broadcast on Saturday, January 8, 2011 from 11:00-11:30 AM Eastern Time. The National Educational Telecommunications Association (NETA) is providing this one-time upload opportunity for all member PBS stations throughout the U.S.
LIFE IS COOL! is designed to teach upper elementary students about organs and tissues in the human body, and about how transplants work. It also shares important nutrition tips and healthy lifestyle choices. Comparisons between car parts and parts of the human body, animated illustrations of organs and tissues, and personal stories about successful transplants make this "video field trip" interesting and educational. To preview the entire program (low-resolution version) see below . There is a very brief statement at the end identifying IOPO and PBS39 as co-producers of the program.
OPOs can contact PBS stations in your service area to confirm that this program is on their schedule to upload on January 8, or encourage them to do so. Most PBS stations are NETA members and have free access to NETA uploads. There may be an upload fee for non-member PBS stations. For a listing of NETA member PBS stations by state, click here
PBS station programming directors will determine when/how often their station will air the program. OPOs can explore options with their PBS stations to include local contact information when the program airs, or to secure underwriting for more frequent airing of the program.
