Resolve to End the Shortage

2011 is underway and many people are already frustrated with their New Year resolutions.  It is hard work to lose five pounds, run a marathon, or climb a mountain.  These resolutions are good spirited, but they require a great deal of commitment and dedication.

This leads us to the question, Are there any EASY resolutions?
If you are looking for a resolution that is quick and simple, then you are at the right place.  In 2011, take a moment to resolve to end the shortage of organ and tissue donors in Illinois.  This may seem like quite a feat, but you can do your part in three easy steps.
1)      Register today! If you are not already a registered donor, go toDonateLifeIllinois.org and register your decision.  You can save or enhance the lives of up to 25 individuals by taking 30 seconds to register.
2)      Share your decision with others! Encourage others to register their decision at DonateLifeIllinois.org via your social networks.  Post on your Facebook status that 18 people die every day waiting for a lifesaving transplant.  Tweet that there are over 110,000 people in the United States who are waiting for a life-saving transplant (4,800 of which live in Illinois).  Write a blog post about how to register and why you are an organ donor. Remember, always include a link to DonateLifeIllinois.org when you write about organ and tissue donation.
3)       Encourage others to join the fight! Let friends and family know about how easy it is to make a difference in the lives of countless others through organ and tissue donation.  As you celebrate the New Year, share your decision to “Resolve to end the shortage” and encourage others to do the same.  Tell friends about the Donate Life Illinois Facebook page (facebook.com/DonateLifeIllinois) and persuade them to follow us on Twitter (twitter.com/DonateLifeIL).
Follow these easy steps and you make an impact on the number of registered organ and tissue donors in Illinois!
