Donate Life Week, Australia
Source: Radio Adelaide Breakfast
As a nation we don’t have a great record when it comes to organ donation, but the latest data from 2010 puts South Australia second only to Tasmania in donation rates – so the message must be getting through here. Each year around 100 South Australians receive organ transplants – mostly kidneys and liver.
This week is Donate Life Week – a time to recognise those who have given the gift of life to others. Dr. Sally Tidemann is the State Medical Director of DonateLife in SA. She told Catherine Zengerer about the 11th annual Rose Planting Ceremony held to celebrate the lives of the organ donors.
