DONATE LIFE AMERICA NEWS

Flags Across America and NDLM

FlagsSince its inception during National Donate Life Month 2009, the Flags Across America initiative has grown into a year-round celebration for donors and recipients. Your continued participation increases its recognition and reach. Check out the FAA 2011 page on the  DLA members site to see examples of how colleagues in Minnesota used the Donate Life flag to honor donors at their hospital and also, how Gift of Life Michigan worked with their state hospital association to honor donors and recipients. Great ideas that can be easily replicated in your area. Remember, you can order flags at any time by visiting the online store.

Also, don't forget to let us know what new and exciting activities your organization is doing to celebrate FAA 2011.  Not only will you be eligible for an award at the DLA Annual Meeting in June, but pictures and stories will be posted on our website.  Email John Dean about your local flag event.

Donate Life America Launches Donate Life Voices Pilot

Voices kitWe are pleased to announce the launch of theDonate Life Voices pilot program.   The number one goal we share is to increase the number of registered organ, eye and tissue donors and thus the number of lives saved or enhanced through transplantation. A committee of the DLA Board of Directors has been working for the past year to develop a national initiative to enlist recipients and those awaiting transplantation in the quest for more registered donors. Donate Life Voices(formerly the Advocate program) aims to provide those patients who would otherwise not be involved with some basic tools to educate and register those in their circle (family, friends, neighbors, co-workers, etc.) as donors in their state donor registry.Read more...
