On Tuesday, March 8 the Hard Rock Cafe Chicago will host a benefit concert and fundraising party in support of the upcoming feature-length documentary LET THERE BE LIFE, which aims to raise organ donation awareness.
The concert will boast a line-up of Chicago’s finest talent including Funkadesi, the BS Brass Band, and Vance Kelly and the Backstreet Blues Band. Special guests will include world-renowned spoken word artist Malik Yusef and Theryl “Houseman” DeClouet, former member of Galactic and subject of LET THERE BE LIFE. Also in attendance will be Cook County Commissioner Robert Steele who received a kidney from his sister Joyce last November. This will undoubtedly be an unforgettable night of music, soul, and life.
The event will include: a red carpet arrival for celebrity and VIP guests; a meet and greet with director, Erica L. Nikolic, and documentary subject, Theryl “Houseman” DeClouet; screenings of never before seen teaser footage shot at the legendary Tipitina’s in New Orleans; organ donation educational booths; and a silent auction and raffle of donated goods, services, and rare music memorabilia.
This Fat Tuesday celebration will be an authentic New Orleans experience. In addition to the funk, soul, and classic Mardi Gras tunes the Hard Rock Cafe will be serving up complimentary New Orleans fare and New Orleans drink specials.
All proceeds from the event will go towards the continued production of the film in the Chicago area.
