POINT PLEASANT — At this time, there are more than 106,000 people in the United States alone waiting for a life-saving organ transplant.
In recognition of Organ Donation Awareness Month, Pleasant Valley Hospital will raise their “Donate Life” flag on Friday.
The flag raising, slated to begin at 10 a.m., will take place in front of the hospital’s main entrance. The ceremony will recognize and honor the lives that have been touched by organ, eye and tissue donation.
Members of the American Legion Post 23 Honor Guard will assist in the ceremony.
In addition to the ceremony, PVH also will host an employee blood drive on April 29. The blood drive is scheduled to run from 10 a.m.-3 p.m. at the Wellness Center. During the drive, information regarding organ recovery and donation will be available.
The public is encouraged to attend both the flag raising ceremony and blood drive.
For more information on the upcoming blood drive, call the patient representative office at 304-675-4340, ext. 1860.
