St. James Mercy’s Dialysis Unit forms team to support National Kidney Walk

Hornell, N.Y. In recognition of National Kidney Month, staff from St. James Mercy’s Dialysis Unit have formed a team to support the National Kidney Foundation’s (NKF) Annual Kidney Walk in Geneseo on Friday. The National Kidney Walk is an event that brings communities, friends and family together to fight kidney disease and promote organ donation.

It is an opportunity for kidney patients, transplant recipients, donors/families, medical communities and the general public to celebrate life and create enduring community advocacy and support for those suffering with kidney disease. More than $.79 cents of every dollar raised for the NKF goes directly to support programs and services, including free early detection screenings, research, education and patient services.

Anyone interested in joining the walk and/or sponsoring the “The St. James Mercy Care Angels” team, can contact Team Captain, Jen Oyer at (607) 324-6956 or go to http://donate.kidney.org/site/TR/Walk/UpstateNewYork?team_id=91966&pg=team&fr_id=3501

Donations will help the 26 million Americans who currently have chronic kidney disease and the 104,000 people who are currently waiting for a kidney transplant.
