CITY OF LONG BEACH EMPLOYEE SHARES EXPERIENCE ON RECEIVING TWO CORNEAL TRANSPLANT.
On April 5th, City Employee Georgia Wills shared her story of needing a double cornea transplant at the City of Long Beach Donate Life Flag raising ceremony. Georgia began her story by showing her large font typed notes and expressing how glad she is to be able to see and to participate in the event.
Following Georgia was Lakewood resident Jim Krupa who received a heart transplant six years ago. The need for a transplant was discovered during a routine medical examination without which his condition would have gone undiagnosed. Jim currently serves as a Donate Life Ambassador dedicating his time to raising awareness for organ donors.
Since 2007, Long Beach City Mayor Bob Foster and Vice Mayor Suja Lowenthal has championed organ and tissue donation encouraging citizens to give the gift of life and register their wishes to be a donor.
