Flags Will Fly To Promote Organ Donation
Melissa Traynor | Hartford Courant

In a push to register more of her constituents and staff as organ donors, Mayor Marcia Leclerc is organizing the flying "Donate Life" flags at town departments and facilities.

The move honors April as National Donate Life Month and locals who have donated organs or tissue. An official flag-raising ceremony will be held on April 15 at 10 a.m. on the town hall lawn.

Leclerc will also send out letters to town employees asking them to join the donor registry list, which can also be done at the Department of Motor Vehicles when residents obtain or renew a driver's license.
The flag-raising around town is part of the national Flags Across America event to promote organ, eye and tissue donation, which is sponsored by LifeChoice Donor Services.
