CINCINNATI, OH (FOX19) -

Ickey Woods spoke at University Hospital's third annual flag raising ceremony Friday to raise awareness for Donate Life month.

The event at the hospital brought together organ donors and people who have benefited from organ donors for a day of celebration. At the event, the Donate Life flag was raised outside of the hospital.

Ickey Woods spoke at the event as a special guest speaker. Woods' son, Jovante, died last year after collapsing at home from an asthma attack. Jovante was an organ donor himself, and his organs saved the lives of four other people.

Woods said at the event, "Hopefully one day we can meet the recipients, so we can see how they are and get more peace in our hearts about that."
