Marion General Hospital's Beth Hoffman is 'Liaison of the Year'

MARION - Beth Hoffman, a registered nurse in the intensive care unit for Marion General Hospital, was presented with the "2010 Liaison of the Year" award during Lifeline of Ohio's ninth annual "Evening with the Stars" event, held recently at The Blackwell in Columbus.

The award, one of 14 presented by LOOP, acknowledges the dedication and innovation of a hospital liaison in promoting donations, according to a news release.

Hoffman was presented the award by Margot Miller, a tissue recipient, who read from her nomination:

"Beth was selected as the 2010 Liaison of the Year because she keeps her staff and pertinent units updated on new policies and procedures related to organ and tissue donation, and keeps current on the ever-changing medical advances in organ and tissue donation. By growing a strong donation council and gaining support from hospital administration and the public relations department, she has helped promote organ and tissue donation, not only in her unit and in her hospital, but also promoting the need for donation within her community."

Marion General Hospital will once again participate in the celebration of Donate Life Month by flying the "Donate Life" flag throughout April, designated nationally as Donate Life Month. Organ and tissue donation information also will be offered at the hospital's popular "Ham Loaf Night" April 13.
