She was killed when she was run over by a semi while riding her bicycle, but her family says her spirit will live on thanks to organ donation.
Makiya Ritthaler died earlier this month in Halstead.
Her funeral was this past weekend, and her family says part of her will live on.
They donated some of Makiya's organs, her eyes and her heart.
"She had the best heart," said her uncle, Gordon Ritthaler, "Hopefully it will help someone else that's going through a tragedy and her spirit will live on."
The family has set up a memorial fund to help pay for funeral costs.
Makiya's family is trying to raise money to cover funeral expenses. It has set up the "Makiya Ritthaler Memorial Fund." Donations can be made through any Intrust Bank location.
