The amount of applications to the donation register in Sweden doubled during World Transplant Games in Gothenburg this past June, compared to an ordinary week. World Transplant Games emphasized the donation question and the result of the increased attention was successful. More people considered their possibility to help and were reminded about the important decision they can make in order to help people in need of a new organ.
Today, approximately one and a half million Swedes have applied to the donation register and the majority of the people in Sweden have a positive opinion towards donation. In a newly performed survey, eight out of ten answered that they wanted to donate their organs. The decision of being a donator does not take a long time to decide, but it will help the relatives on the day you die.
