Noah's Ride aimed at raising funds for tissue grafts

by Rich Miller | Warrick News

Noah’s Ride benefiting Community Tissue Services will be held on Sunday, August 7 at 10:00 a.m. at the Chandler Community Center. The Volunteer Coordinator for this event is Erica Boyer (Noah’s Mother), who encourages everyone to participate.

By participating in or attending the event, you will help raise funds for Community Tissue Services. These funds will help Community Tissue Services raise awareness of the miracle and impact of tissue donation and of how tissue donors save and enhance lives.

Noah’s Ride is a motorcycle/passenger vehicle ride. Noah James is the 15-month old son of Erica Boyer and Derek Dreblow. Noah was fatally injured in his grandparent’s driveway by a family vehicle. Erica selected Community Tissue Services as the recipient of the funds due to their vital role in providing tissue grafts to patients in need and in providing vital information on the extraordinary gift of tissue donation. Sponsorships are strongly encouraged. Anyone who rides a motorcycle or drives any type of vehicle is welcome to attend. An entry fee of $10 per rider/driver is requested.

CTS recovers, processes, and distributes human tissue for transplantation. More than 175,000 tissue grafts are provided annually. CTS also works to develop relationships with organ and tissue recovery organizations to provide the largest number of tissue grafts for patients in need. Noah's mother, Erica, selected this organization as the recipient because Noah even at the age of 15 months was able to donate his two heart valves. On the worst possible day in a mother’s life, Erica was able to make that decision to have Noah be a tissue donor. Because of her gracious decision, there are two other small children living today. One of those children is in Indiana and the other is in North Carolina. Children’s heart valves are in such high demand and the recipient of the valve is almost an identical match as the donor in regards to their height and weight.

As a leader in saving, enhancing, and transforming lives, Community Tissue Services encourages the nation to join its movement by visiting
www.FiftyLives.org. We each carry within us gifts enough to give life and hope to as many as fifty other people. Through tissue donation, one life given makes renewed life possible for dozens nationwide and internationally. In the restored lives of these grateful recipients, the life and memory of donors lives on.

Headquartered in Dayton, Ohio, Community Tissue Services (CTS) is a nonprofit, quality, ethical provider of services to recipients, donor families, medical communities and community partners through the respectful recovery, processing and distribution of tissue grafts. CTS, an accredited member of the American Association of Tissue Banks, is one of the largest nonprofit tissue banks in the United States and operates regional offices in California, Idaho, Indiana, Ohio, Oregon, Pennsylvania, Tennessee and Texas.
