A 75-year-old Shoreview resident is taking a leap of faith – out of an airplane.Jerry Nelson will be skydiving on Saturday, Aug. 27, to raise money and awareness for the fight against kidney disease. In 1999, Nelson gave his kidney to his wife, Carol, who lived for another 10 years because of the gift of life.
Now, Nelson wants to make more Americans aware of the need to increase organ donations. By jumping out of a plane, he’s showing that life doesn’t change after organ donation, according to a statement.
The money raised during his skydiving experience will be given to the National Kidney Foundation. He’s raised $8,000 for the organization so far.
The jump will happened at noon on Aug. 27 at Westside Skydivers in Winsted, Minn.
