ALABAMA LINE OF DUTY DEATH - POLICE OFFICER JASON SOLLOHUB

BY: Honoring Heroes

On August 24, 2011, Police Officer Jason Sollohub of the Anniston Police Department was murdered in the line of duty. Officer Sollohub was shot in the head and has been prononced brain dead and on life support following the incident. Sollohub is an organ donor and is being kept alive so that he “may continue to serve citizens even after he is gone” said Anniston Mayor Gene Robinson.

The 27 year old Sollohub was shot around 11:00 a.m. Wednesday while chasing a pair of suspects from a traffic stop. It’s unclear why the suspects were stopped. What is known is that Officer Sollohub radioed back to the dispatcher that he’d begun a foot pursuit with the suspects. Minutes later, a second officer who came to assist radioed back “Officer Down”.

Investigators believe Sollohub chased the man through a neighborhood, and was shot in the head while rounding the corner of a home. After a manhunt lasting several hours, a suspect was finally located and arrested. He’s been identified as 24 year old Joshua Russell.

Please join with us in sending our condolences to the family and peers of Police Officer Jason Sollohub.

Rest easy, brother. We’ve got it from here.”
