Crusin' the USA: Two wheels, one cause

Written by | Dave Berggren | KARE 11

PLYMOUTH - One message. Two wheels.

"My body's holding up really well!" laughs David Landsberg from Texas. "I trained hard and am well prepared."

Landsberg, 52, is a man on a mission. He is cycling 50 miles in 50 states and doing it all in just 50 days. The best part is that it's for a cause that means something to him. Landsberg received a life-saving organ from a donor 12 years ago.

"A six year old boy lost his life and I got his kidney," says Landsberg. "That's my motivation for this ride and that's what keeps me going."

KARE 11 caught up with the cross-country cyclist on "day 33" Thursday in Plymouth. He told us he's enjoying meeting people from every state and hearing stories from donors and grateful recipients.

"Things are going really well. I've got a really good driving force. I'm honoring the person that gave me life again."

Landsberg wants folks that hear about his 50-day ride to learn more at the Society for Organ Donation Awareness website and at the Minnesota Donate Life website.
