ABC7 Eyewitness News morning anchor Phillip Palmer, along with award-winning broadcaster Pat Prescott, will serve as master and mistress of ceremonies for the 6th Annual Evening of Jazz Fundraising Event. Palmer began his career in 1985 as a radio sports reporter for KNOE AM/FM radio in West Monroe Louisiana; he joined ABC7 in November 1998 as a general assignment reporter and was soon promoted to weekend anchor. Prescott, a veteran broadcaster, began her career at WYLD-FM in New Orleans. She’s spent most of her career at radio stations in New York, serving as music director, morning show and talk show host and public affairs director, including co-hosting the morning show 94.7 The Wave with GRAMMY-nominated singer/songwriter Brian McKnight. Prescott can now be heard onThe Pat and Kim Morning Show every weekday morning. Both Palmer and Prescott are strong supporters of organ donation and OMCLF. Palmer donated a kidney to his cameraman and Prescott is a registered donor.
Arranger, composer, producer and performer, Greg Adams has earned both GRAMMY and Emmy nominations. Adams’ 1995 solo debut Hidden Agenda remained number one for five weeks. The ground breaking album received wide critical acclaim. Fueled by the world sound of “Burma Road” and a smoldering remake of Sade’s “Smooth Operator,” it established him as a major architect of the emerging smooth jazz sound and at the core of creating the genre of urban jazz. His current project, East Bay Soul, is a combination of instrumental soul, funk jazz and rhythm and blues vocals built on a design to discover new achievements rather than extend the past.
The One Miracle Celebration of Life Foundation was founded in January 2004 by Mike Jones, an African-American Christian man who received a kidney on September 25, 2001, from his donor Pat Abdullah, a White Muslim woman that he met while attending a four-day personal development seminar.
Combining his love for jazz and gratitude for this miraculous “gift of life,” Jones created the annual “Evening of Jazz” fundraising event, bringing together some of today’s top smooth jazz artists to benefit kidney donors, recipients, their families, and other supporters.
