Baby Joy for Cumbrian Couple After Earlier Tragedy

News and Star | Phil Coleman

A Cumbrian couple whose first child died six months after surgeons gave her a new heart have become parents for a second time.

Heather Findley and her partner Gary Sayle, from Egremont, were heartbroken by the death of their first daughter Lydia Rose last December, aged 15 months.

But the couple have now experienced the joy of parenthood again thanks to the birth a healthy baby girl.

Sophia Sayle was born at the Victoria Infirmary in Newcastle just over a week ago, weighing a 6lb 5oz.

Though extremely tired, the couple are back home in Cumbria and settling into a normal family routine with their baby daughter.
