In life, one of Valorie Dulaney Bang’s greatest pleasures was helping people. In death, she continues to help others.
Bang died from an aneurysm Sunday at age 51.
“She always had a smile and she was always laughing,” said her son and only child, Terry Bang. “She really liked helping people.”
Bang was a former nursing assistant at the Biloxi VA and had dedicated 27 years to the profession.
“She’s an organ donor,” her son said. “Three placements have already been made. It’s just like her concern for other people. Her liver is going to a family in Florida. One kidney is staying in state and another kidney is going out of state.”
Other organ donations are possible, he said.
“She had wanted to donate her entire body to science, but she had a very sudden death and didn’t get to arrange that,” he said. “She was only 51 years old, very young.”
Bang, a lifelong Coast resident who lived in Ocean Springs, enjoyed traveling and camping.
“Mostly around here, locally, and nearby states,” Terry Bang said. “Getting out into nature was important. She really loved the Smoky Mountains.”
As a mother, Bang was “very supportive, very caring. She always took time to listen,” her son said.
“I’m in medical school, and she was very encouraging. She valued education,” he said.
