Thank you to all.
The “Donors Rock” Ride has come to an end and it is a bitter sweet ending. In the past 51 days I drove over 14,000 miles in my truck and did 51 bike rides for a total of 2550 miles. I rode in all conditions including the heat, rain, wind and hills. I rode with Transplant recipients and donors, donor families and people who wanted to support the cause. I was supported by friends, OPO’s and Donate Life Affiliates, Bike shops, Whole Foods Market, and more. I heard stories that made me laugh and made me cry. The event had TV, newspaper, Radio and online blog coverage. We signed up donors along the way and spread the message about the importance of organ, eye, and tissue donation. My goal through the whole thing was to open up social dialogue about the need for organ donation. I accomplished this goal and much more. I would not have been able to do it with out the help from people across the country like you. Thank you to all who helped. You can know you became part of something much bigger than anything we can ever do alone. The “Donors Rock” Ride has come to an end but the residual effects have only just begun. We have planted seeds that will grow and continue to give fruit for many years to come. When I started the event I thought if I signed up one donor, who would one day save one life it would be a success. Ladies and gentleman, family and friends, I can truly say the “Donors Rock” Ride was a success. I would not have been able to complete this huge undertaking without all of you. A special thanks to everyone at SODA and my coach Debbie Leslie-Minier for volunteering the time and energy it took to see this through to the end. I look forward to seeing you good people at the future “Donors Rock’ events for many years to come. This ride is over but our job is not. We must continue to educate the public so we can continue to help the people on the waiting list. Thank you again for all your help.
Sincerely
David Landsberg, Founder of SODA
