NEWARK — Michael Wise, 6, of Newark, was named after a relative, a race car driver and a man who saved his aunt’s life with a heart transplant.
The young boy’s family hopes Michael’s death can save others through organ donation.
Michael, son of Keith and Jennifer Wise, died Saturday afternoon after his go-cart struck a small motorcycle driven by Tsuyoshi Shimizu, 37, of Troy, at the Circleville Raceway Park.
Shimizu came around the curve counterclockwise and saw the go-cart headed toward him when the collision occurred at 2:54 p.m. Saturday, according to a Pickaway County Sheriff’s Office report.
Michael was wearing a helmet, protective vest and racing jump suit, according to the report.
