ESPN’s award-winning “E:60” magazine on Wednesday helps the Jovante Woods Foundation fulfill its mission to promote asthma and organ donation awareness to the “nation and world.”
On the fifth season premiere (8 p.m. Wednesday, ESPN), “E:60” will do a segment on former Bengals running back Elbert “Ickey” Woods. The story will mention the Jovante Woods Foundation started in memory of his 16-year-old son, who suffered a fatal asthma attack on Aug. 14, 2010.
Many of his organs were donated because Jovante had signed up as an organ and tissue donor on his temporary driver’s license, to the surprise of his parents, Ickey and Chandra.
“Please tune in to see what the foundation has done, is doing, its future goals, and what Ickey is up to after football,” said his mother, Chandra, in an email to friends. Here’s a link to the Jovante Woods Foundation.
